Today my mom and I were out and about - planning the youth scavenger hunt and doing errands. While we were out - we saw a beautiful eagle soaring along the Dyke. What an awesome sight!
I think it would be amazing to fly like an eagle - riding the breezes. As for eating mice and other eagle food - not so amazing. But rising up in the sky - WOW!
The bible mentions eagles quite a bit. One passage about eagles was part of our bible study tonight. When we trust God we can fly as high as the eagle.
Isaiah 40:28-31New International Reader's Version (NIRV)
28 Don’t you know who made everything?
Haven’t you heard about him?
The Lord is the God who lives forever.
He created everything on earth.
He won’t become worn out or get tired.
No one will ever know how great his understanding is.
29 He gives strength to those who are tired.
He gives power to those who are weak.
30 Even young people become worn out and get tired.
Even the best of them trip and fall.
31 But those who trust in the Lord
will receive new strength.
They will fly as high as eagles.
They will run and not get tired.
They will walk and not grow weak.
It's good news - don't you think? we don't have to just rely on ourselves! In fact - we are called to NOT just rely on ourselves. Instead - we are to trust God. Rely on God.
I was talking a bit about our last few weebly studies tonight at Youth Group. I know that I can't keep God's commands on my own. It's not easy in my own power and strength. In fact - it is impossible!
It is hard to love my neighbour all the time. It is hard to demonstrate my love for God. It's a good thing that I can trust in God and not just in me!

Proverbs 3: 5-8 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. 7 Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. 8 Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones. |
