"Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born again."
Jesus made some pretty amazing claims - but this one tops most! In the third chapter of John, Nicodemus sneaks out under the cover of darkness to meet with Jesus. Sounds like something right out of SPY vs SPY! Nicodemus is a pharisee, the passage tells us that he was a ruler of the Jewish people. He calls Jesus Rabbi and declares that Jesus is a teacher who comes from God. Jesus responds in a very odd way. He doesn't even seem to acknowledge what Nic says - he just replies rather cryptically: "Truly, truly, I say unto you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Apparently, Jesus saw a question behind Nic's greeting. Read John 3: 1-21. Think about it. Pray about it. Maybe even research it a bit - and then respond to the questions posed along the side. |
