It's quite amazing to think about this God who loves us! Really loves us. Can you get your head around it? Sometimes I think I never will. And maybe I won't. Maybe it's too big for us to even imagine.
The bible tells us that God's love is so big that NOTHING can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. Nothing. And that is very good news. Even on your least loveable day - God still loves you. Cares for you. Wants what is best for you.
Consider this passage from Romans 8: 38-39
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow - not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below - indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The real world is so much bigger than you and me and the reality that we see and hear. But it's all OK - because God loves us.
But what about us? What do we do with God's love? How do we show that we love God?
John was one of the original followers of Jesus. Here is what he says about loving God.
Here is what it means to love God. It means that we obey his commands. And his commands are not hard to obey. (1 John 5:3)
Interesting... to love God means to obey his commands. And they are not hard to Obey..... Sounds like time to do some reflecting! Bounce on over to the side bar.
