At our last two youth group studies, we have been searching the bible to find out what God tells us about Himself in His word. We've discovered that He is one God but three persons, self-sufficient, eternal, unchanging, wise, good, love, holy, righteous and sovereign. WOW! But then the big question is - SO WHAT? Does it make any difference in your life knowing that God has all of those attributes - and many many more? Maybe - just maybe - He is someone you really CAN trust! Try it out!
I know that I am none of those things. Sure, I can show love. Sometimes I can be good. I am even right sometimes - maybe even quite a bit. But not all of the time! But God is! I think that God is someone that I can model my life after. Note to self: GET ON WITH IT!
As we grow in faith and become more Christ-like, others will begin to see Jesus reflected in our lives. As we walk with Jesus, we become more like Him. What are you doing that helps you to become more like Jesus? What steps are you taking to grow in your faith? What would happen you you gave God's word - even 1/10 of the attention that you give to math, chemistry, physics, french, etc? What would happen if you spent even 1/10 of the amount of time in prayer as you do interacting with others or your screen devices? Hmmm. Good questions! I hope you find out!
The first set of prompts is posted. See what you can learn about who God is by reading the book of Jonah!
